Workshop | Making the PYP Happen
FEIS Staff Never Stop Learning!
This week our newer members of staff very kindly gave up their weekend in order to take part in the Making the PYP Happen in the Classroom workshop hosted by Alice Cheung the PYP Coordinator at Shekou International School, Shenzhen. This workshop covered themes such as Approaches to Learning, Inquiry Based Teaching methods and Translanguaging which promotes the use of a child’s mother tongue in order to access the learning in the class’ language of instruction.
The trainer shared how she was very impressed by the attitude of our staff throughout the weekend. Towards the end of our sessions, Alice had our staff create their own perfect classrooms. These were then judged by Mr. Daws our PYP Coordinator, using criteria which included opportunities for students to create their own work spaces, use of technology, flexibility and accessibility for young learners.
During the hard work we were also able to wish Ms. Connie a happy birthday as she had kindly given up this day to join our training. In order to truly represent the IB Learner profile it is vital that both teaching and non-teaching staff are given the opportunity to develop professionally and be life long learners; which the staff at FEIS truly are!
Well done to everyone involved and thank you for giving up so much of your valuable time and energy to make this training such a success.
